Two posts tonight, 'cause I'm gonna run out of characters on my tagging limit, I just know it ...
If you were falling, then I would catch you
You need a light, I'd find a match
'Cause I love the way you say good morning
And you take the me the way I am
If you are chilly, here take my sweater
Your head is aching, I'll make it better
'Cause I love the way you call me baby
And you take me the way I am ...
'Cause I love you more than words could ever promise,
And you take me the way I am
-"The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson
"We always have a choice to focus on the horror or the redemption. And the gift is to focus on the redemption."
-Rosie O'Donnell
This wasn't mean to be no sad song,
We've heard too much of that before.
Right now, I only wanna be here with you,
'Til the morning dew comes falling
And I wanna take you to the island,
Trace your footprints in the sand
And in the evening when the sun goes down
We'll make love to the sound of the ocean
-"The Island" by Celtic Thunder
"Can miles truly separate you from friends? If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there?"
-Richard Bach
Somebody said you got a new friend
Does she love you better than I can?
There's a big black sky over my town
I know where you're at, I bet she's around
Yeah, I know it's stuipd
But I just got to see it for myself
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her
I'm right over here, why can't you see me,
I'm givin' it my all, but I'm no the girl you're taking home
I keep dancing on my own
I'm just gonna dance all night
I'm all messed up, I'm so out of line
Stilettos and broken bottles
I'm spinning around in circles ...
So far away, but still so near
The lights go on, the music dies
But you don't see me standing here
I just came to say goodbye
-"Dancing On My Own" by Robyn
Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries and drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away,
Ere I forget all the joy that is mine today
I can't be contented with yesterday's glory,
I can't live on promises winter to spring
Today is my moment and now is my story,
I'll laugh and I'll cry and I'll sing
-"Today" by John Denver
"The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected."
-from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
"True love never dies, for it is lust that fades away. Love bonds for a lifetime, but lust just pushes away.
-Alicia Barnhar
"Absence diminishes little passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans a fire."
-Francois Duc de la Rochefoucauld (translated from French)
I've been wanting to post the words for Chrysler's new line of commercials for awhile now, but waited a little post-Super Bowl. I love the truth in advertising that's to be found in them about Detroit, because I love anything pro-Detroit and restoration. In the first twenty seconds of the ad, an American flag is shown behind a fence -- right away, I picked up on it: This is the flag that still stands were Tiger Stadium once did. If you didn't check it out, click here. Here's the text to the original, which is similar to the shortened Eminem-free version played most of the time. They are narrated by Michigan resident Kevin Yon, and the first one, aired during the Super Bowl, of course featured Eminem. There is also a new one out that's been shown on Fox Sports Detroit a couple of times that is cool -- I'm watching the FSD Tigers telecast tomorrow, so I will hopefully see it then and get to transcribe it, because I can't find the video anywhere online ... Here's the narration for the original ...
"I got a question for you: What does this city know about luxury? What does a town that's been to hell and back know about the finer things in life? Well, I'll tell you -- more than most. You see, it's the hottest fires that make the hardest steel. Add hard-work and conviction, and the know-how that runs generations deep in every last one of us. That's who we are. That's our story. Now it's probably not the one you've been reading in papers, the ones being written by folks who've never even been here, who don't know what we're capable of. Because when it comes to luxury, it's as much about where it's from as who it's for. Now we're from America, but this isn't New York City, or the Windy City, or Sin City, and we're certainly no one's Emerald City. This is the Motor City, and this is what we do."
After a while, you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn that love doesn't mean leaning,
and company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of a woman,
not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground
is too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way
of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while, you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers
And you learn
that you really can endure
you really are strong
your really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn.
With every goodbye, you learn ...

"We're gonna be just fine. You know how you say something over and over, and the words start to sound weird? Going to be just fine ... just fine ... just fine ... just fine."
-Holly on The Office (Episode 7x12, The Ultimatum)
