and they said speak now ...

Chuck: "I'm going to have to tell my parents the hotel they just bought is serving minors."
Serena: "And if you get a drink, they're also serving pigs."
-from Gossip Girl, Season 1 (Episode 1, Pilot)

Gossip Girl (voice over): "Revenge. We hear it's best served cold. Who's hungry?"
-from Gossip Girl, Season 1 (Episode 2, The Wild Brunch)

Gossip Girl (voice over): "It takes two to tango, and girls like these never go down without a fight."
-from Gossip Girl, Season 1 (Episode 3, Poison Ivy)

Blair: "Well, I'm done guessing. I want answers! And no one likes to be on the ground floor of a scandal like Chuck Bass."
Chuck: "I am a bitch when I want to be."
Blair: "Opportunity to cause some trouble, uncover a secret?"
Chuck: "I say yes for an answer."
-from Gossip Girl, Season 1 (Episode 3, Poison Ivy)

Gossip Girl (voice over): "Spotted in Central Park. Two white flags waving. Could an Upper East peace accord be that far off? So what will it be? Truce or consequences? We all know one nation can't have two queens."
-from Gossip Girl, Season 1 (Episode 3, Poison Ivy)

Kit: "Well, he's not a bum. He's a rich, classy guy."
Vivian: "Who's gonna break my heart, right?"
Kit: "Oh no, c'mon -- you don't know that. Hey, he asked you, right? Maybe you guys could like, um, you know, get a house together and buy some diamonds and a horse. I don't know. Anyway, it could work! It happens!"
Vivian: "When does it happen, Kit? When does it really happen? Who does it really work out for? Did it work out for skinny Marie or Rachel? No."
Kit: "Those are very specific cases of crack heads."
Vivian: "I just wanna know who it works out for. You give me one example of somebody that we know that it happened for."
Kit: "Name someone? You want me to name someone? You want me to like, give you a name or something?"
Vivian: "Yea, I'd like a name."
Kit: "Oh, god, the pressure of a name ... Cinda-fuckin-rella."

Getting something, then having the wits to use it ...

A few new ones tonight ...

"'The most dangerous flaws are those which are good in moderation,' she said. 'Evil is easy to fight. Lack of wisdom ... that is very hard indeed.'"
-from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Titan's Curse (Book 3) by Rick Riordan

"'We know you, Annabeth,' the left face said. 'We know what you wrestle with every day. We know your indecision. You will have to make your choice sooner or later. And the choice may kill you.'"
-from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth (Book 4) by Rick Riordan

"You see, in times of trouble, even gods can lose faith. They start putting their trust in the wrong things, petty things. They stop looking at the big picture and start being selfish. But I'm the goddess of marriage, you see. I'm used to perseverance. You have to rise above the squabbling and chaos, and keep believing. You have to always keep your goals in mind."
-from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth (Book 4) by Rick Riordan

"Getting something and having the wits to to use it ... those are two different things."
-from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth (Book 4) by Rick Riordan

"I'd had more than my fair share of near-death experiences; it wasn't something you ever really got used to. It seemed oddly inevitable, though, facing death again. Like I really was marked for disaster. I'd escaped time and time again, but it kept coming back for me. Still, this time was different from the others. You could run from someone you feared, you could try to fight someone you hated. All my reactions were geared toward those kinds of killers -- the monsters, the enemies. When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no option. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give to your beloved, how could you not give it?"
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"Because I was so fragilely human, so accident-prone, so much a victim to my own dangerous bad luck, apparently I needed a tank-resistant car to keep me safe."
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"But my idiocy would not ruin anything else tonight. I would put this away, shove it in a drawer and lock it up to deal with later. There would be plenty of time to flagellate myself for this, and nothing I could do now would help."
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"I wasn't freaking out because I thought we were making a mistake. Not at all. I was freaking out because I had no idea how to do this, and I was afraid to walk out of this room and face the unknown ... How did people do this -- swallow their fears and trust someone else so implicitly with every imperfection and fear they had?"
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"My first instinct, the product of a lifetime of insecurities was to wonder what I had done wrong. I thought through everything that had happened, but I could find any sour note in the memory. It had all been simpler than I'd expected; we'd fit together like corresponding pieces, made to match up. This had given me a secret satisfaction ... Fire and ice, somehow existing together without destroying each other. More proof that I belonged with him."
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"Children, in the abstract, had never appealed to me. They seemed to be loud creatures, often dripping with some form of goo. I'd never had much to do with them. When I'd dreamed of Renee providing me with a brother, I'd always imagined an older brother. Someone to take care of me, rather than the other way around."

"And yet, to say the truth, reason and love keep little company together nowadays."
-A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare (Act II, Scene i)

"Why didn't I just walk away? Oh right, because I'm an idiot."
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"I understand why you blond vampire is so cold -- in the figurative sense. She's focused. She's got her eyes on the prize, right? Because you always want the very most what you can never, ever have."
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"Seemed like maybe getting your choices taken away from you wasn't the very worst thing in the world ... So how do you look for a random soul mate in a crowd? Well, first, I needed a crowd."
-from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

"Personal affection is a luxury you can have only after all your enemies are eliminated. Until then, everyone you love is a hostage, sapping your courage and corrupting your judgment."
-from Empire by Orson Scott Card

what in the name of Jim Joyce is going on here? ...

"What in the name of Jim Joyce is going on here? First, it's Galarraga's perfect game, then it's Calvin Johnson's touchdown, and tonight, David Murphy hits a home-run that was foul. Stick it to us once, shame on you; stick it to us twice, shame on us. Stick it to us three times, and you're not going to like where you can stick it next. Look, we were willing to forgive Jim Joyce, but this has gone on long enough. Whatever we did to umpires, officials or referees all across this great land, we are sorry. Oh, are we sorry. Look, we've got enough trouble around here with you and your garbage calls stinkin' up our days and nights. It's not an easy job, I get it, I don't want it. But for the love of Don Denkinger, save your errant safe, touchdown and home-run calls for fans that deserve it: Buckeyes."
-Mickey York

"Mario and Rod back with a preview of how the umps will screw the Tigers tomorrow night later on."
-Mickey York

"Maybe that was why he was feeling like he and Brandon should be better friends - or something. Like history shouldn't matter so much. But maybe that was easier when you were the person who usually won."
-from It Girl: Classic (Book 10) by Cecily von Ziegesar

"She old herself she wasn't feeling lonely, exactly. She just wasn't used to a whole lot of solitary time anymore. She was used to a shared life now. Callie, Tinsley, Brett and Jenny had been inseparable this past semester. It was going to take some getting used to, being just one-fourth of their foursome."
-from It Girl: Classic (Book 10) by Cecily von Ziegesar

"'Laistrygonians. The monsters in the gym. They're a race of giant cannibals who live in the far north. Odysseus ran into them once, but I've never seen them as far south as New York before.'
'Laistry--I can't even say that. What would you call them in English?'
She thought about it for a moment. 'Canadians,' she decided."
-from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters (Book 2) by Rick Riordan

an invincible summer

It's been awhile ... Here are some new favorites ... :)

Keep drinking coffee, staring me down across the table
While I look outside
So many things I'd say if only I were able,
But I just keep quiet and count the cars that pass by
You've got opinions, man
We're all entitled to 'em, but I never asked
So let me thank you for your time,
Try not to waste anymore of mine
Get out of here fast
I hate to break it to you babe
But I'm not drowning
There's no one here to say
Who cares if you disagree?
You are not me,
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be,
Who died and made you king of anything?
-"King of Anything" by Sara Bareilles

"I finally learned that there lay within me an invincible summer."
-Albert Camus

All the things I still remember
Summers never looked the same
Years go by and time just seems to fly
But the memories remain
In the middle of September
We'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end
-"September" by Daughtry

"Sometimes in life, there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what. Maybe you will find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding. But there's also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you, sometimes better than you know yourself, is the same person who's been standing beside you all along."
-from Bride Wars

Mmm, and come September,
Mmm, I will remember,
Mmm, my camping days and friendships true.
Mmm, and as the years go by,
Mmm, I'll think of you and sigh,
Mmm, this is goodnight and not goodbye
-"Linger" (a camp song)

Moon on the meadow, bugs in our ears
Smoke in our eyes, wet wood and tears
Up on the meadow, water somewhere
We were the only ones there
Wild horses rushing, dry lakes and peaks
Finding the love that everyone seeks
Hiking to rainbows, sunsets and stars
Finding out just who we are
We will return here
One lucky day
Our hearts will guide us
They know the way
People and cities don't understand
Falling in love with the land
Moon on the meadow, bugs in our ears
Smoke in our eyes, wet wood and tears
Out on the meadow, water somewhere
With you my friend, we were there
-"Moon on the Meadow" (a camp song)

"At the end of a day like this, a day when so many prayers are answered and so many aren't, we take our miracles where we find them. We reach across the gap and sometimes, against all odds, against all logic, we touch ..."
-from "Grey's Anatomy" (Season 3, Episode 17 - Some Kind of Miracle)

"For thousands of years, you humans have been throwing in everything you come across -- hopes, dreams, wishes that never came true. Irresponsible waste management, if you ask me."
-from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (Book 1) by Rick Riordan

through it all just stand up ...

The heart is stronger than you think
Lit it could go through anything
And even when you think it can't
It finds a way to still push on through
Sometimes you want to run away
Ain't got the patience for the pain
And if you don't believe it, look into your heart
The beat goes on
I'm telling you things get better
Through whatever
If you fall, dust it off, don't let up
Don't you know you can go be your own miracle
You need to know
If the mind keeps thinking you've had enough
But the heart keeps telling you don't give up
Who are we to be questioning, wondering what is what?
Don't give up, through it all just stand up
... You don't gotta be a prisoner in your mind
If you fall, dust if off, you can live your life
Yeah, let your heart be your guide
-"Just Stand Up" by Various Artists (compilation)

"Time takes pleasure in kicking our asses. For even the strongest of us, it seems to play tricks. Slowing down, hovering, until it freezes, leaving us stuck in a moment, unable to move in one direction or the other. ... Time flies. Time waits for no man. time heals all wounds. All any of us want is more time. Time to stand up. Time to grow up. Time to let go. Time."
-from Grey's Anatomy, Episode 3.1 (The Time Has Come Today)

"You know, I've faced adversity before, and the only way to get through something tough is to keep working hard."
-Brennan Boesch

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
-Robert Frost (and also, the opening passage for Eclipse, by Stephenie Meyer)

In regards to the novel Wuthering Heights:
"'Honestly, though, why do you read it over and over?' His eyes were vivid with real interest, now, trying - again - to unravel the convoluted workings of my mind. He reached across the table to cradle my face in his hand. 'What is it that appeals to you?' His sincere curiosity diarmed me. 'I'm not sure,"I said, scrambling for coherency while his gaze unintentionally scattered my thoughts. 'I think it's something about the inevitability. How nothing can keep them apart - not her selfishness, or his evil, or even death, in the end ...' His face was thoughtful as he considered my words. After a moment he smiled a teasing smile. 'I still think it would be a better story if either of them had one redeeming quality. 'I think that may be the point,' I disagreed. 'Their love is their only redeeming quality.'"
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"'Your bad luck seems to get more potent every day. Do you realize that your insatiable pull for all things deadly was strong enough to recover a pack of mutant canines from extinction? If we could bottle your luck, we'd have a weapon of mass destruction on our hands.'"
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"As we walked, I felt myself settling into another version of myself, the self I had been with Jacob. A little younger, a little less responsible. Someone who might, on occasion, do something really stupid for no good reason."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"This was why I was here. This was why I would take whatever reception waited for me when I got back. Because, underneath all the anger and the sarcasm, Jacob was in pain. Right now, it was very clear in his eyes. I didn't know how to help him, but I knew I had to try. It was more than that I owed him. It was because his pain hurt me, too. Jacob had become a part of me, and there was no changing that now."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"Hanging out with no one but extremely dexterous people all the time was going to give me a complex."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"I felt like someone had kicked my legs out from under me. The weeks of stress, of worry ... somehow in the middle of all my obsessing over the time, my time had disappeared. My space for sorting through it all, for making plans, had vanished. I was out of time. And I wasn't ready."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"Having experienced the way it feels to think I've lost you ... my reactions have changed. My entire being shies away from any course that could inspire that kind of pain again."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"My hindsight seemed unbearably clear tonight. I could see every mistake I'd made, every bit of harm I'd done, the small things and the big things. Each pain I'd caused Jacob, each wound I'd given Edward, stacked up into neat piles that I could not ignore or deny."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

"I was eventually exhausted enough to sleep. Unconsciousness did not bring full relief from the pain, just a numbing, dulling ease, like medicine. Made it more bearable. But it was still there; I was aware of it, even asleep, and that helped me to make the adjustments I needed to make."
-from the Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

here's to a wicked and wild future ...

A few weeks ago, I joined goodreads.com. It's a cool social networking site for book lovers and avid readers. You can keep track of every book you read, get recommendations, see pages that belong to your favorite others and their list of favorite books, friend people just as you would on Facebook, link it to your Facebook, submit reviews and keep track of your progress. There are groups and book clubs, and I think it's really cool -- but then, I'm a nerd, so it might just be me. Luckily, I run with a lot of other readers who will like it, too, so we can all be nerds together.

"A guy was the last thing she needed right now. Unless he had a PhD in psychology, he was of little use."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"As Jane licked off and put her phone back on her nightstand, she wondered about his parting words: I'll talk to you soon. They hadn't talked at all in seven whole months. Why would they be talking anytime soon? And why was she supposed to call him if she 'needed anything'? Had something changed? ... Forget 'kinda complicated'; everything in Jane's life was downright confusing."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"You could tell he wasn't even into her. I saw him looking at you. It's obvious that he missed you and is trying to make you jealous. You hurt him and now he's trying to hurt you back."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"Scarlett felt strangely uncomfortable confiding in Jane. It was like she was watching their relationship change and she couldn't do anything about it. It used to be that they never kept secrets from each other. And now, they did."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"She had no words to describe her emotional state these days ('irrational' and 'unstable,' maybe?). She wanted to linger in this irrational, unstable, and, if she had to admit it, kind of awesome limbo of her noncrush on Liam for as long as possible -- not going forward, not making a commitment, just ... being there. She couldn't see their relationship continuing, but she couldn't see it not continuing, either. For now, she would just enjoy whatever it was they had -- without labels, without promises, and without telling anyone about it. Not even Jane. Scarlett had already not told her about New Year's with Liam. Might as well keep the half-truths rolling -- that was the state of their union these days anyway."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"Scarlett hadn't written (him) back. And she wasn't entirely sure why. She just couldn't bring herself to do it. It wasn't that she didn't miss him. She did -- a lot. She missed their conversations about books and music and movies and politics. She missed his kisses. She missed the way he wrapped his arms around her, making her feel so desired and so protected at the same time. She missed his face. She missed his eyes. She missed everything about him. So why was she ignoring him? Part of it was that she was in funk, and she didn't like sharing her funks with another person. She also didn't like how much she missed him, which seemed crazy and upside down, but there it was. Crazy and upside down seemed to be her hallmarks these days."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"I blew it with him. When Jane moved out, I was really, really upset. He tried to be there for me and stuff, because he's such a nice guy, but I didn't want his sympathy, so I just pushed him away. Actually, I didn't just push him away. I was an asshole to him."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"She knew that the only person she could truly count on was herself. She had had enough disappointment in her life to know that other people always let you down."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"She had decided to give him some space. After a few days, though, that space had seemed more like a void. Not knowing how to deal with it, she had thrown herself into her schoolwork, spending most of her nights at the library."
L.A. Candy: Sweet Little Lies (Book 2) by Lauren Conrad

"Love is like war: easy to begin but very hard to stop."
-H.L. Mencken

"Sure, she could be a pain in the ass, but she was his pain in the ass."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"He was home, but he felt further away from anything he'd ever known. Sometimes home is where the heart breaks."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Once, in high school, when she and Serena were smoking Merits on the steps of the Met, they came up with the theory that you had an almost psychic connection to anyone you'd ever kissed. If you really concentrated, you could almost sense where they were in geographic relation to you. And right now, Nate felt very far away."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'I'm just so tired,' she said finally. She wanted to tell Pete how much seeing Serena and Nate had shaken her. Being back in New York was like pulling a gigantic Band-Aid off her whole fucking life, exposing the raw, oozing parts of her past that hadn't healed."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"In literary theory, a liminal space somewhere in between -- a place that's neither here nor there. I think it's safe to say we're at a liminal space in our lives: We're not teenagers, but we're not quite adults. At times, we're being chastised by our parents for not calling; at others, we're starting internships at companies we might want to work for someday, in our real, adult lives. My advice: Instead of worrying about who you were or what you'll become, try to just enjoy the moment."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"When you had nothing else to trust, you had to trust yourself."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"That's what I feel like college is all about. Figuring out what's important to you in life, the thing you'll follow to the end of the earth. Figuring out what you care about most."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"On some nights, frenemies beat strangers."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It was one thing to know they were together and it was another to see it."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It struck him that they were twenty - actual adults - and yet all they wanted to do was act like little kids. It was like that dumb cliche: The more you change, the more you stay the same. Maybe growing up was just about becoming closer to the person you always were."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"He suddenly remembered learning about catalyst reactions in his high school chemistry class. One random chemical could change everything between two otherwise normal chemicals. It all made sense. He was a f***ing catalyst."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"As we all bustle about trying to figure out our futures, I'm experiencing deja vu. Didn't we do this once already? it's senior year stress all over again - except this time, we're not applying to college, we're applying to life. My advice is the same as I gave four years ago: Sometimes, you just need to pour the pinot, turn on some tunes, and chill out. After all, don't we have the rest of our lives to worry?"
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"The true paradises are the ones we have lost."
-Marcel Proust

"Blair settled back into bed, loving how she could say whatever she wanted -- be whoever she wanted -- in front of her two oldest friends. She hoped no matter what happened, it could always be that way."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"No matter what, they didn't have as strong a connection as he described in the poems he wrote about their relationship. It wasn't the marriage of two minds, not really. It was more like falling in love with an allusion of perfection."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"For once in her life, the movie in her mind wasn't playing. She had no idea what her next line was or how she should exit. She had no idea if any man was waiting in the wings."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It was crazy how they'd lived in the same orbit for so long, had dated and broken up and hooked up for years, how they'd shared an apartment when they were both together and apart. How she could still make him smile more than anyone else in the world."
-from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You (Book 12) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Even though Easy Walsh hadn't been at Waverly since he had been expelled more than a month ago, she couldn't help looking for his face whenever she walked into a room. It was a reflex."
-from It Girl: Adored (Book 8) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun."
-Katharine Hepburn

"Is it (love) something we cling to, just because it offers comfort? Do we have the power to convince ourselves we're in love? Or is it a stronger feeling, one we can't control?"
-from It Girl: Devious (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'Do you believe in true love?' 'I don't really think I know what that means. I mean, I fell in love with Jeremiah, and I was sure he was my true love. You know, the one I'd been waiting for and all that.' She shrugged and smiled at Callie. 'But there were just so many ups and downs. Like, we were always fighting -- always misunderstanding each other. It was like we were ... I don't know. Speaking different languages or something.' Immediately, Callie thought about her tumultuous relationship with Easy. They'd broken up about eight hundred times. There were plenty of ups, of course ... but they always seemed to be followed by an even bigger down."
-from It Girl: Devious (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Look. I really like you. I might even be in love with you. But I can't keep doing this. You get mad at me. You don't tell me why. You break up with me. You come back and apologize. Then it starts all over again."
-from It Girl: Devious (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

That's all for now ... next time, quotes from Eclipse (the book) and probably some Gilmore Girls. :)

change your mind. then change it again ...

"I've always felt out of step; literally stumbling through life. I've never felt normal. But I know now -- I'm not normal. And I don't want to be. I've faced death and loss and pain ... But I've also never felt stronger, more real, more myself."-said by Bella, from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

"This isn't the time to make hard and fast decisions. It's the time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love - a lot. Major in philosophy, 'cause there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent. So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask again what we want to be, we won't have to guess -- we'll know."
-from Jessica's graduation speech in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

i've been lucky. i'll be lucky again ...

"'What, there are no flowers in the fall?' she asked petulantly, already feeling herself slide into the slightly contrary attitude that Easy had always gotten off on. She didn't mean to - it just felt so ... natural. 'That's stupid.' Easy laughed. His dark blue eyes crinkled up at the edges and Callie could tell from his expression that he wanted to kiss her, the way he had done a thousand times - which broke her heart. Yes, she'd been hoping with every ounce of her being that he would realize how stupid he had been and come running back to her, throwing himself at her feet and begging for forgiveness. She missed him. She missed his deep laugh ... [and] the way he raised one eyebrow slightly whenever he thought she was bullshitting him about something."
-from the It Girl: Unforgettable (Book 4) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Good things don't always come to those who wait. Really, who has the patience?"
-from the It Girl: Unforgettable (Book 4) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'Don't you find it a little strange that you went from Callie to, like, the anti-Callie?' Easy tried to think about why that could be ... Had he used Jenny as a way out of his relationship with Callie because Callie tried to push him too far? Because he wasn't ready to say 'I love you'? ... 'That's, like, the classic definition of 'on the rebound,' isn't it?' Brandon continued, taking three quick puffs of his cigar and trying to exhale them into smoke rings the way tough guys always do in the movies. 'As much as I hate to say it, there was something about you and Callie that just ... made sense.'"
-from the It Girl: Unforgettable (Book 4) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'I mean, you have to be a little sensitive, of course, because there are a lot of people involved.' She shrugged her petite shoulders. 'But if you're in love ... that's out of your control, right? We don't get to pick the people we fall in love with, and it's nothing to be ashamed of, is it?'"
-from the It Girl: Unforgettable (Book 4) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"There's no girlfriend like an ex-girlfriend."
-from the It Girl: Unforgettable (Book 4) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"I've been lucky. I'll be lucky again."
-Bette Davis

"Was her whole life going to be like this now, avoiding certain songs or music that reminded her of her mistakes? ... She'd be a huge, lumbering mass of musical baggage."
-from the It Girl: Lucky (Book 5) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Don't you know hat it feels like to like someone so much that nothing else matters?"
-from the It Girl: Lucky (Book 5) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'Can't you see how much I-' Easy couldn't finish the sentence. IT hurt to be in love with someone he wanted to hate. 'What?' Callie snapped. 'Can't I see what?' 'Quit torturing me,' Easy pleaded angrily. ... 'I'm not doing anything!' Callie cried out. 'You just don't get it, do you?' Easy turned on her, feeling the dam holding back the anger inside him break completely. 'You're a bitch, Callie. A spoiled little bitch, and there's nothing I can do to change that.'"
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It was easy to think you loved someone - but after they hurt you, intentionally or not, and you could still take them back, that was something much deeper."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Apparently, some secrets were better when shared."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'It's like, why do things the normal way, right? ... My friends call me a reflexive contrarian, but that's just them being afraid, too chicken to speak out against anything. They just swallow everything like damn goldfish. ... So I can't help it - I feel like if everyone does something one way, I have to do it another way ... I'm always disagreeing with people - starting fights, being a general pain in the ass."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Ever since they'd started dating, she got the crazy butterflies whenever she thought about him, or saw him, or kissed him. It was an addiction, one she hadn't been willing to let go of, even when he dumped her for Jenny."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be."
-Kurt Vonnegut

"Callie was too cold to feel embarrassment or shame - she only felt stupid for doing such terrible things to people who cared about her. They didn't deserve to be treated as she'd treated them. Jenny - even if she had started dating Easy, it hadn't been entirely her fault. Callie was the one who'd chased him away in the first place."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"She really wanted him to remember the good times. Their first kiss in the rare books library ... Snow ball fights out on the quad, when Easy would tackle her ... A sob worked its way up from her bottom of her empty stomach, throbbing in her chest. It mocked her for believing that she might ever be able to get over Easy. He was the love of her short, sorrowful life. The sob erupted in her throat and she wailed into the wind, straining her vocal cords, the image of complete sadness and longing, her heart full of poetry for What Might've Been and What Would Never Be."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"He loved Callie. He knew that now. He remembered something he'd overheard one of those corny late-night preachers saying as he flipped through channels one summer when he was home in Lexington: Forgiveness is a present you give yourself. It started that way, sure. He'd felt the relief of letting go of all the grudges he'd held against Callie and all that Callie had done. But when he saw her face, he knew how sorry she was about the whole thing. She was a good person. He might be the only one at Waverly her knew it - God knew sometimes Callie didn't do anything to help her case - but he knew it."
-from the It Girl: Tempted (Book 6) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Don't pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches."
-Andy Warhol

"I wanted to say say I'm sorry to you because I know you probably think I'm the most evil person in the world, but I'm really not. ... I was just jealous ... And I completely regret it now. I can't even think about it without being disgusted with how I behaved. I'm really not a bad person."
-from the It Girl: Infamous (Book 7) by Cecily vonZiegesar

Have you ever fed a lover
With just your hands?
Close your eyes and trust it, just trust it
Have you ever thrown
A fist full of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face and said
I just don't care
It's only half past the point of no return
The tip of the iceberg
The sun before the burn
The thunder before the lightning
And the breath before the phrase
Have you ever felt this way?
Have you ever hated yourself
For staring at the phone?
Your whole life waiting
For the ring to prove you're not alone ...
It's only half past the point of oblivion
The hourglass on the table
The walk before the run
The breath before the kiss
And the fear before the flames
Have you ever felt this way? ...
Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself
Will it ever get better than tonight?
-"Glitter in the Air" by Pink

I miss those blue eyes
How you kiss me at night
I miss the way we sleep
Like there's no sunrise, like the taste of your smile
I miss the way we breathe.
But I never told you
What I should have said
No, I never told you
I just held it in
And now I miss everything about you
Can't believe that I still want you
After everything we've been through
I miss everything about you
I see your blue eyes
Every time I close mine
You make it hard to see
Where I belong to, when I'm not around you
It's like I'm not with me
But I never told you
What I should've said
No, I never told you
I just held it in
-"I Never Told You" by Colbie Caillat

she'll give you a part of her that she knows you can break -- her heart ...

"Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect, and I don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean."
-Bob Marley

"You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before, she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She's not perfect, you aren't either and the two of you may never be perfect together. But if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her, and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking of you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don't hurt her, don't change her, and don't expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you sad, and miss her when she's not there."
-Bob Marley

"Just wait until you find out all the girls call him Pony behind his back because everyone has taken a ride."
-from the It Girl (Book 1) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It pissed her off that Easy knew her so well. And that he was smarter than she was. Actually, when it came down to it, everything made her seethe and shudder with pleasure."
-from the It Girl (Book 1) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Have you forgotten you're the most jealous person on the planet?"
-from the It Girl (Book 1) by Cecily vonZiegesar
"She was doing that thing some people do when they act nice and chipper and interested, while just below the surface they're thinking really mean thoughts, and you can never call them on it because they'd just accuse you of being paranoid."
-from the It Girl (Book 1) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Why is it that when you guys want something, and when you get it, when we give it to you, you freak out?"
-from the It Girl (Book 1) by Cecily vonZiegesar
"With affection beaming in one eye, and calculation shining out of the other ..."
-Charles Dickens
"Callie's heart started to pound so hard it felt like it would break free of her chest. Running from the sables to his dorm, she'd been furious, ready to punch Easy in his beautiful face, but also ready to accept his beautiful face but also ready to accept his explanations or excuses, provided they came sweetly enough, and with plenty of kisses to smooth it over. Now it sounded like smoothing it over was the last thing on his mind."
-from the It Girl: Notorious (Book 2) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"I think you are one of those very rare people who have so many talents, they have a hard time deciding on the right one to use."
-from the It Girl: Notorious (Book 2) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'Hi, uh, Jeremiah. This is, um, Jenny, a friend of Brett's. I'm sorry to call you -- I really hope I'm not bothering you. But I just wanted to let you know that Brett's been thinking about you, like, all the time, and she knows she made a huge mistake and she wants to ask you to forgive her, but she's too afraid to. I means, she's totally in love with you and I totally know, because ... Because I'm in love with someone, too. And so I know what it looks like and she's got it bad ... And people who are in love really shouldn't let misunderstandings come between them."
-from the It Girl: Notorious (Book 2) by Cecily vonZiegesar
"She felt completely lost, like everything in the entire world was upside down, and so who cared if she made one more giant mistake? It was almost soothing to know she was taking an active part in destroying her own life, instead of just letting it happen."
-from the It Girl: Notorious (Book 2) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."
-Sir Walter Scott

"What was his problem? Why couldn't he get his feelings about these two girls straight in his mind? It wasn't fair to anyone to keep thinking this way about both of them, but he couldn't help it."
-from the It Girl: Reckless (Book 3) by Cecily vonZiegesar
By the time you swear you're his
Shivering and sighing.
And he vows his passion is
Infinite, undying,
Lady make a note of this--
One of you is lying.
-Dorothy Parker
"'Look, Easy. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it's unfair of you to think you can have things both ways. If you have feelings for Jenny, you can't have feelings for me anymore.' Which would be kind of sad ... But still. Callie meant it. She didn't want to be one of Easy's girlfriends - she was either The One or nothing at all. No matter how great it had been to kiss him again - and it had been pretty freaking great - no guy was worth making a fool of herself over. Easy stood up. 'But it's not working that way.' 'Well, it kind of has to. You need to figure out what you want ... And until you do, I kind of doubt either of us will want anything to do with you.'"
-from the It Girl: Reckless (Book 3) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Most people were raised to believe they are just as good as the next person. I was always told I was better."
-Katharine Hepburn

'As much as I hate to say it, there was something about you and Callie that just ... made sense.'"

if you'll allow me to get all philosophical about it for a minute, every ending is just another beginning, isn't it? ...

"Blair could see something else in their beady, foreign eyes. Something calculated and decidedly bitchy. And it takes one to know one."
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Then she felt fingers trailing down her arm, so delicately it tickled. Nate's hand slid down over her wrist, then slipped it into her palm, giving it a gentle squeeze. Letting out a sigh, it felt like she was breathing out something she didn't even know was inside her. The frustration, the jealousy, the worry over what would happen next. She turned to look at him, but his eyes were closed, and soon hers were too. And that's how they slept, for the rest of the day and into the night."
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

""She'd already heard from a million people that his hot romance or whatever the f*** he had with that townie girl was long over, and with some proper groveling, she could forgive him for his romantic retardation. Yes, he was a total f***-up and yes, he'd broken her heart a million times, but something about the way he'd watched her run off ... had left her wanting to see him again and again."
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Will you always be the one to save me?"
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

"In wine there is truth."
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Isn't fate funny? You think you've got some control over things, you think you're in charge of life, but really, come on -- we're all just at the mercy of the universe. I mean, we all read our horoscopes, don't we? And as we all know, there are some people who are just ... connected. It doesn't always make sense, but it's not worth fighting. ... It's just fate people. Get used to it."
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

"You know what's totally lame? Happy endings. Seriously. Like when I'm at the movies and I see some plucky, determined girl finally land her leading man--whom I knew for the past two hours she'd end up with anyway--I just want to claw her eyes out. Real life is actually terribly messy and complicated and nothing ever just ends ... I mean really, if you'll allow me to get all philosophical about it for a minute, every ending is just another beginning, isn't it?"
-from Gossip Girl: Would I Lie To You by Cecily vonZiegesar

"With those words ringing in her ears, something in Serena had finally clicked. She'd watched him lead Blair upstairs and right then, she knew as surely as she'd ever known anything that she loved Nate. And now that he was standing right in front of her ... she knew it was really true. She loved Nate with her entire heart. It was something she'd always known, deep down. Why hadn't she done anything about it until it was too late?"
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"True love never dies. Apparently, that depends on your definition of true love."
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'I'll tell you one thing.' Chips closed his menu and learned across the table. 'You've got to think with your balls, not your dick ... Because men who think with their dicks are cowards.'"
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"The room was so quiet that Nate didn't know whether the sound of breathing in his ears was his or hers. Sitting there with Serena, on the floor of her room, everything felt right. And simple. In fact, when he really thought about it, things between him and Serena had always been simple - it was life that had complicated them."
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"The angrier she gets, the more ingenious she is."
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"This isn't chemistry or geography. It's physics. Pure physics, I'm falling fast and faster still. So fall with me. Fall down with me. And stay."
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Don't twist my words to your own convenience. There's a difference between protecting someone else and protecting yourself. And it doesn't sound to me like you've done much thinking about what's really best for those two girls you claim to love so much."
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"You need to figure out what you really want -- no more of this pussyfooting around. Remember, you've got to think with your balls, not with your dick."
-from Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me by Cecily vonZiegesar

"There was nothing brave or manly about lying to the two people he loved most in the world."

The next several quotes are all from Gilmore Girls, Season 1, Episode 8 (Love and War and Snow) ...

Mayor: "I would like to now move on to something of even greater importance. As you all know, this coming Friday is the anniversary of the legendary Battle of Stars Hollow."
Lorelai (whispers): "Where's Luke?"
Rory (whispers): "Up there."
Mayor: "Penny will be circulating a sign-up sheet for those of you would would like to participate in the reenactment of the aforesaid battle."
Rory: "He's turning red."
Lorelai: "Oh, oh ..."
Mayor: "All right. It was a frigid November night, some 224 years ago."
Lorelai: "He's shifting in his seat."
Mayor: "The brave Stars Hollow militia stood in wait for the Red Coats."
Rory: "He's adjusting the cap."
Lorelai: "Ooh!"
Mayor: "Tired and hungry, twelve proud men took their positions in the town's square, braving the elements."
Lorelai: "He's fighting the urge, he's fighting the urge."
Mayor: "And imminent death in their valiant efforts ..."
Luke: "Oh, for god's sake, do we have to go through this every damn year?!"
Lorelai: "Yes!"
Rory: "And the urge wins by a long shot!"

Lorelai: "I am telling you, five minutes in a snowball fight, we could knock that stick right outta your butt."

Lorelai: "Ladies and gentlemen, we have flakes. Flakes have been sighted. Flakage, if you will, has begun. Michel, it's the first snowfall of the season. It's very lucky. Make a wish."
Michel: "Get away from me."
Lorelai: "Oh, you're not supposed to say it out loud." (Phone rings.)
Michel: "Independence Inn, Michel speaking."
Lorelai: "The world changes when it snows. It gets quiet. Everything softens."
Michel: "It's your mother."
Lorelai: "And then the rain comes. (Takes the phone.) Hi Mom."
Emily: "Have you seen the news?"
Lorelai: "Ever?"
Emily: "A bad storm is heading your way. It's already hitting us here."
Lorelai: "Well, don't panic. I'll get the ark, you get the animals."
Emily: "I just sent Lance to pick up Rory at school. The roads are terrible, black ice everywhere, it's just a mess out there. I hate this kind of weather. So, anyhow, what time will you get here?"
Lorelai: "Well, uh, gee, Mom, I don't know. Let me see. Black ice, treacherous roads. I guess I'll just put on my red, white and blue leotard, grab my golden lasso, and fly the invisible plane on over."
Emily: "You're not coming?"
Lorelai: "Well, if it's as bad as you say it is, I don't see how I'd get there."

Emily: "And you know, Rory should probably stay the night, also."
Lorelai: "Okay."
Emily: "And if it's still bad tomorrow ..."
Lorelai: "Mom, why don't you wait and see what the weather does before you fill out a change of address card for her?"

Lorelai: "Now, honey, tell Grandma you arrived there not a member of the Junior League, I'd like you to leave there the same way."

she's 90% water and 10% caffeine ...

All of the quotes below are from Gilmore Girls, Season 1, Episode 6 (Rory's Birthday Parties) ...

Emily: "Tomorrow, our lawyer, Joseph Stanford, is coming by."
Lorelai: "Ugh. Crazy Sissy's dad."
Emily: "That's terrible. Sissy was a good friend of yours."
Lorelai: "Mom, Sissy talked to her stuffed animals, and they answered her."
Rory: "Let's just start a new topic."
Emily: "Not possible."
Lorelai: "She said a new topic, Mom."
Emily: "Everything's a joke, everyone's a punchline."
Lorelai: "Okay, I'm sorry."
Emily: "My daughter -- Henny Youngman."
Richard (coming in late): "Sorry for that. A little trouble with our China office. Well? What did I miss?"
Lorelai: "I was being impossible, and then I turned into a Jewish comedienne."

Emily: "So, Rory, your grandfather and I thought it might be nice after dinner for you to go around the hosue and pick out what you'd like us to leave you in our wills."
Richard: "Take a look at that desk in office. It's a really fine Georgian piece."
Lorelai: "Why don't I ever bring a tape recorder to these dinners?"
Rory: "Oh, well, anything you want to leave me is fine."
Emily: "Nonsense. You should have what you like. So look around, and when you see something you like, a stick a Post-it on it."
Lorelai: "Okay, you two have officially hit a new level of weird that even I marvel at."
Emily: "You can pick things out too, you know."
Lorelai: "Oh, well now it's way less creepy."
Emily: "Did you hear that Richard? Apparently, we're creepy."
Richard: "Yes, well, live and learn."

Lorelai: "I love pudding. I worship it. I have a bowl of it up on the mantel at home with the Virgin Mary, a glass of wine and a dollar bill next to it."

Lorelai (putting Post-Its on things): "So what do we think of this?"
Rory: "Where would we put it?"
Lorelai: "I don't know. The Emily and Richard Gilmore Psycho Museum."
Rory: "This is the strangest evening I've ever spent here."
Emily: "So, how's it going?"
Lorelai: "Great. Just getting ready for the big day."
Emily: "Very nice."
Lorelai: "So, um, it's getting late, Mom. Unless you've got some funeral plots for us to decorate we should really be going."

Lorelai: "So, how would you like two parties this year?"
Rory: "You couldn't get her to cave."
Lorelai: "No, but she did agree to make the string quartet learn 'Like a Virgin.'"
Rory: "Well, you tried."
Lorelai: "Sweetie, I promise, Saturday night we'll do it up right at home. A Stars Hollow extravaganza."
Rory: "So, is this party Grandma's having going to be a big deal?"
Lorelai: "Not really. The government will close that day. Flags will fly at half-mast. Barbara Streisand will give her final concert -- again."
Rory: "Uh-huh."
Lorelai: "Now, the Pope has previous plans, but he's trying to get out of them. However, Elvis and Jim Morrison are coming, and they're bringing chips."

Emily: "Please be serious. We're shopping for Rory."
Lorelai: "No, Mom, I'm shopping for Rory, you're shopping for your imaginary granddaughter, Barbara Hutton."

Rory: "I've now used the word 'sucks,' so much that it's lost all meaning to me."

Lorelai: "It's so hard to believe that at exactly this moment many moons ago, I was lying in exactly the same position --"
Rory: "Oh boy. Here we go."
Lorelai: "Only I had a huge, fat stomach and big, fat ankles, and I was swearing like a sailor--"
Rory: "On leave."
Lorelai: "On leave, right! And there I was--
Rory: "In labor."
Lorelai: "And while some have called it the most meaningful experience of your life, to me, it was something more akin to doing the splits on a crate of dynamite."
Rory: "I wonder if the Waltons ever did this?"
Lorelai: "And I was screaming and swearing, and being surrounded as I was by a hundred prominent doctors and nurses, I just assumed there was an actual use for the cup of ice chips they gave me."
Rory: "There wasn't."
Lorelai: "But pelting the nurses sure was fun."

Rory: "I now officially know what it feels like to have grown up here."
Lorelai: "It's not official until you're huddled in a corner, eating your hair."

Lorelai: "All right, everybody, I need your attention, your attention please. This is a very serious moment. Two priests, a rabbi and a duck--"
Rory: "Mom."
Lorelai: "All right, I'm kidding. Um, I would like to propose a toast to the one thing in my life that is always good, always sweet, and without whom I would have no reason to get up in the morning. My pal Rory. Cheers."

Lorelai: "Mom, Dad, can I get you a drink?"
Emily: "No, thank you."
Lorelai: "Oh no, Mom, you're gonna need one. And I have wine glasses that say Holiday Inn on them."

All of the quotes below are from Gilmore Girls, Season 1, Episode 7 (Kiss and Tell) ...

Lorelai: "I'm crushed, I'm bleeding; get me a tourniquet. Oh no, they're dirty because Rory wouldn't wash them with her stuff."

Lane: "He kissed you in the market?"
Rory: "On aisle three."
Lane: "By the ant spray?"
Rory: "Yes."
Lane: "Oh, that's a good aisle."
Rory: "What defines a good aisle?"
Lane: "An aisle where you get kissed by the new kid is a good aisle."

Lane: "You can't leave? It's sing your favorite hymn night at the Kim house. Make a run for it."

Rory: "I've been telling you this story for an hour. It doesn't get dirty."
Lane: "I can't help it. I'm obsessed. I'm totally living vicariously through you."
Rory: "Why? You got kissed last weekend. Remember? You told me. That guy your parents set you up with. The one with the Lincoln Continental. What's his name? Patrick Cho!"
Lane: "Okay, let's do a little compare and contrast here. You get kissed on the mouth by a cute, cool, sexy guy that you really like. And I get kissed on the forehead by a theology major in a Members-Only jacket who truly believes that rock music leads to hard drugs."

Luke: "I'm not gonna say you look concerned."
Lorelai: "I'm not gonna talk you how good you'd look dressed like one of the guys from 'The Crucible.'"
Luke: "Fair enough."

Luke: "So you passed the need for an actual person to talk to several minutes ago."
Lorelai: "Oh yea. Before the gelato stand."

Rory: "There will be no interrogation."
Lorelai: "I swear."
Rory: "No kissing noises, no stories from my childhood. No referring to Chicago as 'Chitown.' No James dean jokes. No father with a shotgun stares. No Nancy Walker impressions."

Lorelai: "So chill out, Supermarket Slut."
Rory: "See, even a little information in your hands is dangerous."

Lorelai (to Dean): "When Rory was little, she found out that one was called a Weeping Willow, so she spent hours trying to cheer it up. You know, like telling it jokes and--(Rory shakes her head at her) No, I'm sorry, that was me."

Rory: "That's my mom."
Dean: "She's got energy."
Rory: "Yea, well, she's 90% water and 10% caffeine."

Rory: "My mom has a thing for the Oompa-Loompas."
Lorelai: "I don't think finding them amusing constitutes a thing."
Rory: "No, but having a recurring dream about marrying one does."

Lorelai: "I'm afraid once your heart is involved, it all comes out in Moron."

she is pure Alice in Wonderland, and her appearance and demeanor are a nicely judged mix of the Red Queen and a Flamingo ...

Lately nothing I do ever seems to please you
And maybe turning my back would be that much easier
'Cause hurtful words are all that we exchange,
But I can't watch you walk away
Could I forget about the way it feels to touch you?
Or all about the good times that we've been through?
Could I wake up without you every day,
Would I let you walk away?
No, I can't learn to live without
And I can't give up on us now
Oh, I know I could say we're through
And tell myself I'm over you
And even if I made a vow,
A promise not to miss you now
And tried to hide the truth inside
I'd fail 'cause I just can't live a lie
Could I forget the look that tells me that you want me?
And all the reasons that make loving you so easy;
The kiss that always makes it hard to breathe,
The way you know just what I mean
No, I can't learn to live without
So don't you give up on us now ...
I just can't live a lie
And I don't want to try
-"I Just Can't Live a Lie" by Carrie Underwood

Suppose I called you up tonight and told you that I loved you
And suppose I said I wanna come back home
And suppose I cried and said I think I finally learned my lesson
And I'm tired of spending all my time alone
If I told you that I realized you're all I ever wanted
And it's killing me to be so far away
Would you tell me that you love me too?
And would we cry together?
Or would you simply laugh at me and say
I told you so
Oh, I told you so
I told you someday you'd come crawling back and asking me to take you in
I told you so, but you had to go
And now I found somebody new
And you will never break my heart in two again
If I got down on my knees and told you I was yours forever
Would you get down on yours too and take my hand?
Would we get that old-time feeling, would we laugh and talk for hours?
The way we did when our love first began
Would you tell me that you'd missed me, too,
And that you'd been so lonely,
And you've waited for the day that I'd return
And we've live and love forever
And that I'm your one and only
Or would you say the table's finally turned?
-"I Told You So" by Carrie Underwood

Did you check the oil?
Put gas in the car?
Don't think you'll need too much,
'Cause you ain't gonna get that far
Did you pack the good times?
Don't forget a map
Just in case the route you take isn't there to take you back
You can hold any girl that you like
Fall in love when it's easy at night
But you'll wake up wondering
Why she ain't ever something better
When you're lost and you've run out of road
Find what I already know
In the end, close is all there is
But you won't find this
There's once in a lifetime
And there's once in awhile
And the difference between the two is about a million miles
Oh, you might get lucky
While the moon is looking on
But in the truth of the morning
The stars will be long gone
You can hold any girl that you like
Fall in love when it's easy at night
But you'll wake up wondering
Why she ain't ever something better
When you're lost and you've run out of road
Find what I already know
In the end close is all there is ...
Oh, in the end, it's me you're gonna miss
-"You Won't Find This" by Carrie Underwood

"She is pure Alice in Wonderland, and her appearance and demeanor are a nicely judged mix of the Red Queen and a Flamingo."
-Truman Capote

"I think I saw him ... but it couldn't have been the same guy; this guy was dressed like a construction worker and hanging out with some skanky-looking ... townie chick. Any idea what's going on?"
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Nate hardly needed convincing; like a good ex-girlfriend, Fate always pulled through for him, right when he needed her."
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"I'm a person who believes in taking chances. I believe that the universe rewards bold actions, don't you?"
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"He just couldn't imagine Blair putting on a wedding dress and marching down the aisle unless he was there, too, in a tuxedo, right by her side. Of course they weren't even together anymore, but somehow, it was impossible for Nate to imagine Blair - his Blair - marrying anyone but him."
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"He'd been so stupid, always f***ing everything up with her, always taking her for granted or mistakenly hooking up with her best friend or whatever, that he'd been blind to the reality that without Blair, his life was nothing."
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"I think maybe you need to think this through ... Center yourself. Eventually, you'll find clarity. I can't tell you what to do, you know. It's your life. But I'd like to see you find some answers. That's all we want in life, after all, isn't it?"
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Honestly, man ... it just wasn't meant to be. I thought she was someone I was interested in. I Mean, I thought I was ready for a change. But you know what? I was wrong. I think I just fell into the trap of being excited by the idea of someone new, even though we were totally wrong for each other."
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Something Dan had said really stuck with him: his life was right here, waiting for him, inside this shitty, overcrowded apartment. The girl he was meant to be with was right here, and the only honorable thing to do was to break the news to the girl he wasn't meant to be with."
-from Gossip Girl: Only In Your Dreams (Book 9) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Truth is beautiful, without doubt; but so are lies."

allow someone to hurt you, because it will teach you the kind of person you don't want to be, and how great joy really is ...

"Stand up and finish what you started."
-Bob Harper

"As for [him], you'd think he'd be on top of the world ... But no. Have you seen him lately? Red-rimmed eyes, dirty tissues streaming from his pockets, lackluster disposition. Our golden boy appears to be in a terrible funk. Or maybe he caught a sexually transmitted disease from one of those ... tramps he's always rumored to be hooking up with. See? It doesn't pay to be too greedy.
"
-from Gossip Girl: Nothing Can Keep Us Together (Book 8) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It was like he was finally tasting the meal he'd been looking at under the glass all those years. He wanted to savor it, but everyone else was eating so quickly, there wasn't time. And there was also this nagging feeling that he'd ordered the wrong thing."

-from Gossip Girl: Nothing Can Keep Us Together (Book 8) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"Bitchy and stubborn and selfish and neurotic, Blair was the epitomer of high maintenance, but no matter how many times he'd f***ed up, she'd always taken him back. It usually started with a sidelong glance or an irate phone call, and then he'd show up at her door and they'd kiss and make up. But Blair wasn't sending him any if-you're-really-nice-to-me-I'll-consider-it vibes."
-from Gossip Girl: Nothing Can Keep Us Together (Book 8) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"It was precisely one of those awkward, mundane little moments that made her feel like most of life was just waiting for something to happen."
-from Gossip Girl: Nothing Can Keep Us Together (Book 8) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"'She gets all grumpy when you don't come on to her, and then she complains when you don't,' Nate complained, shaking his head. 'I never understood that.' 'But as long as you let her know she's irresistible, she can't make a fuss,' Lord Marcus pointed out. 'That's what's crucial.' Nate turned his head to look at the older boy through a haze ... He'd known Blair practically since he was born. How come this guy, who'd only just met her, seemed to have her all figured out? Was it possible that he and Blair were totally incompatible? Maybe they were never actually meant to be."
-from Gossip Girl: Nothing Can Keep Us Together (Book 8) by Cecily vonZiegesar

"She'd done everything she could do. Her fate was in someone else's hands."

"I do not love you except because I love you."

-Pablo Neruda

"Believe in absolutely everything. Question even more and never give up. Forgive because it's empowering, and love because it's humbling. Allow someone to hurt you, because it will teach you the kind of person you don't want to be, and how great joy really is. Admire life, because in its chaos it is always teaching a great lesson."

All the following quotes are from Gilmore Girls, Season 1, Episode 4 (The Deer Hunters) ...

Lorelai: "Shopping for school supplies, partay."
Rory: "Nobody demanded that you come."
Lorelai: "Are you kidding? How often do you get to do things like this? I was thinking, while we're going crazy, we should get some toilet paper and a plunger next."
Rory: "I'll just do this later."
Lorelai: "No, I'm teasing. Come on, get that list of yours."
Rory: "Okay ... I need legal pads."
Lorelai: "Got it."
Rory: "Tons of pens ..."
Lorelai: "Right."
Rory: "Some number two pencils, three highlighters, an eraser, a staple remover and a folder."
Lorelai: "You need three highlighters?"
Rory: "Yes."
Lorelai: "Three?"
Rory: "Yes."
Lorelai: "That's a very random number."
Rory: "Three is not a random number."
Lorelai: "No, but I mean, how did you get to the number three."
Rory: "One dries up, one gets lost, I have one left."
Lorelai: "You have really thought this out."
Rory: "Yes, I have."
Lorelai: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
Rory: "Can we get back to this list, please?"
Lorelai: "All right. Ooh, hey, legal pads."
Rory: "No. Those are purple."
Lorelai: "Yes, purple is festive."
Rory: "I can't have purple."
Lorelai: "Yes you can, they're on sale."
Rory: "I'm going to serious school now. I need serious paper."
Lorelai: "Paper is paper."
Rory: "Not at Chilton."
Lorelai: "Fine, here is your serious paper."
Rory: "Thank you."
Lorelai: "Ooh, and here are your somber highlighters, your maudlin pencils, your manic depressive pens. Now, these erasers are on lithium, so they may seem cheerful, but we actually caught them trying to shove themselves in the pencil sharpener earlier."
Rory: "I'm going home now."
Lorelai: "No, wait. We're going to stage an intervention with the neon Post-its to make them give up their wacky, crazy ways."
Rory: "I'm never going shopping with you again."

Paris: "Not everyone can be smart. As my mother always says, somebody has to answer the phones."

Lorelai: "What is going on here? We are young fiery women! Studying? Shopping lists? Where's 'to hell with it all?' Where's throwing caution to the wind? Where's--oh, shoot! The linen delivery."
Rory: "You go girl."

Mama Kim (to Rory eating a Snickers bar): "That is chocolate-covered death."
Rory: "With a creamy caramel surprise."

Lorelai (just drank a sip of coffee): "Jesus, Mary, Joseph and a camel. (Other parents look at her.) This is really bad coffee!"

Lorelai (in a parent meeting): "I just thought I'd like to see the excitement."
Random dad: "It's a test."
Lorelai: "Yeah, I know."
Random dad: "What's exciting about a test?"
Lorelai: "Do you play golf?"
Random dad: "Yes I do."
Lorelai: "You explain yours, I'll explain mine."

Luke: "You look like you need pie."
Rory: "I do?"
Luke: "Violent pencil tossing usually signals the need for pie."
Rory: "What if I'd thrown a pen?"
Luke: "I would've brought you a trout."
Rory: "What?"
Luke: "I don't make the rules, I just carry them out."
Lorelai (entering the diner): "Hey, backwards baseball cap - new look for you. She's eating pie? Did she even have dinner?"
Luke: "You raise her. I just serve."

Brian (a server at the in): "May I be fired now?"
Lorelai: "Absolutely."

Lorelai (about Headmaster Charleston): "I didn't yell at him."
Rory: "You called him 'il duce.'"
Lorelai: "Which means 'Kind Sir' in Cantonese."

The next quotes are all from Gilmore Girls, Episode 1.5 (Cinnamon's Wake) ...

Emily: "Oh, I'm afraid I have some bad news. Claudia died."
Lorelai: "Who?"
Emily: "Claudia. Your cousin Claudia. (Lorelai is still staring.) Claudia!"
Lorelai: "I'm hearing the name, Mom. I have no idea who that is."
Emily: "Claudia's your cousin, for all intents and purposes."
Lorelai: "Oh, now we're getting to it."
Emily: "She was your father's grandmother's sister's girl. So to you, that would make her--"
Lorelai: "Nothing?"
Emily: "Regardless, the funeral's on Thursday. I thought we'd all go together."
Lorelai: "Ooh, whoa. Two problems. First, impossible to get away from the inn Thursday. Two, I've never met this woman!"
Emily: "You most certainly have."
Lorelai: "When?"
Emily: "Several times."
Lorelai: "I'll take one."
Emily: "We went to her hosue in Groton to see the first moon landing. She'd just gotten a new Philco."
Lorelai: "I have no memory of this whatsoever."
Emily: "Rory, correct me if I'm wrong, but men have walked on the moon, regardless of whether or not your mother rememebrs it or not?"
Rory: "That's the rumor."
Lorelai: "I know men have walked on the moon. I just don't know Claudia."
Emily: "So you're not going?"
Lorelai: "Not this time."
Emily: "I don't think Claudia's planning to die a second time."

Emily: "Oh wait -- Rudolph Gottfried!"
Lorelai: "Another cousin?"
Emily: "No, a Nazi that we knew. I'd forgotten. We stayed with him once in Munich. Nice old man. Interesting stories."
Lorelai: "Mom, you socialized with a known Nazi? That's despicable! That's heinous!"
Emily: "No, dear. That's a joke."

Michel: "You're giving me that look, aren't you? Your patented, 'Do it, or something unspeakable shall befall you' look."

Max: "You like coffee?"
Lorelai: "Only with my oxygen."

Lane (talking about Babette's recently deceased cat, Cinnamon): "They said that they rolled her body into a lamp. (Rory nods.) Did you laugh? (Rory shakes her head.) Did you want to? (Rory nods her head.)"

Lorelai: "I kept information from you."
Rory: "Information I should have had."
Lorelai: "Information that would've come out eventually, like the Iran-Contra scandal."
Rory: "So you're Oliver North?"
Lorelai: "No, I'm Fawn Hall."
Rory: "Mom."
Lorelai: "Well, she's much prettier."

Lorelai (about Emily): "She's working for a sedative manufacturer, keeping that demand sky high."
